Compatibility Testing is the methodology of testing various aspects of a product against a matrix of defined ranges of hardware and software pieces for interoperability.
SOE's in-house Compatibility Lab provides long standing experience with an expansive library of hardware to best suit your evaluation needs.
You make the games. Our role is to help your games satisfy your target system specifications in accordance with your target demographic. We are able to evaluate a broad range of factors involved with Compatibility, including:
CPU (60+ choices)
RAM (various options)
Video (200+ choices)
Sound (50+ choices)
Operating System (Microsoft supported)
Resolution (640x480 to 2560x1600 for desktop, NTSC/PAL to 1080p for TV)
Browsers (Windows supported)
Within Video and Sound tests, we can also provide options testing (changing shadow quality, texture quality, sound quality, etc.), to verify that intended results are achieved on the various cards that you support.
With almost infinite combinations of test configurations, we're able to test any number of possibilities, providing comprehensive results.
SOE Development Services defines a matrix of hardware and software components (processor, RAM, video card, sound card, Operating system, etc) against a common setting/environment to determine how well a product performs. Load times, frame rate averages/benchmarks, failure points, memory usage, etc, are just a few of the possible report outcomes.
Analysis of base spec hardware (as defined by the product owner) against the product to determine what the minimum required specifications are needed to operate the product within acceptable performance levels. This normally includes a spectrum evaluation of low end processors, video cards, and RAM amounts. Recommendations for adjustment post evaluation are available. This helps define the minimum system specs which can be a fundamental barrier of entry for a consumer to install or play your game.
We are able to test a wide variety of machines and operating systems to validate your installer works in your intended environments. Based on expected functionality that you provide, we will test (positive and negative) through the portal to your product.
